News Releases Singapore based Mil-Com Aerospace setting up Mil-Com CAUC Aviation Training Center in Tianjin, China. 2005, Singapore: A 49:51 joint venture company formed with Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC). As at 21st December 2005 Mil-Com CAUC Aviation Training Center is a joint venture between Mil-Com Aerospace Pte. Ltd. and Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) to provide specialized aviation training courses in China. This joint venture, 49% owned by Mil-Com Aerospace and 51% by CAUC, was set up after the signing of an MOU with CAUC on the 18 January 2005 in Tianjin, China. Mil-Com Aerospace Group will bring to the joint venture all technical and engineering courses which are trade specific to aviation operations, including Aircraft Type courses from Alteon (formerly FlightSafetyBoeing, FSB) and Flight Operation Management from Jeppesen - two well known aviation training companies owned by Boeing. The Center will be managed by the joint venture's General Manager, Mr. Rod Elliott who has 40 years of experience in commercial aviation. Mr. Elliott will be working hand in hand with Ms Brenda Zhang Qi, the Deputy General Manager, who has 10 years of experience managing the local aviation training courses. Ms Zhang also has been teaching Avionics in CAUC for the past 20 years as an Assistant Professor. The Center envisages an annual enrolment of 400 students and approximately 20 classes a year during its first few years of operations. It is also expected that the large student population of 12,000 at CAUC will provide a steady supply of students for the training courses at the Center. Types of courses available in the Training Center include Aircraft Engineering, Aircraft Structures and Repair, Aircraft Type Specific, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licensing, Specialty courses, Flight Operations Management and include soft skills and personal development. According to Mr. Eugene Lim President and Co-Founder of Mil-Com Group, "Training and re-training is a required necessity in airline operations for safety maintenance standards as well as for competency especially with the advent of new technological development on aircraft. Together with Alteon and Jeppesen, Mil-Com CAUC Aviation Training Center will be able to provide quality training of world class standard, not less than that of Alteon's training headquarter in Seattle". Mr. Lim added "With this training facility in Tianjin, there would be less reason for any knowledge seeking aviation personnel in China to go overseas for aerospace training. This also translates into both convenience and cost savings for airlines. This joint venture will be a landmark of the strong economic co-operation between Singapore and China as reflected by our Prime Minister Mr. Lee Hsien Loong's visit to China earlier in October." "Alteon's mission is to enhance aviation safety by supporting the industry's training needs," said Pat Gaines, President of Alteon. "We're pleased to be a part of the CAUC and Mil-Com efforts to deliver quality maintenance training to CAUC students and airline employees." This marks the second Alteon location in China (Tianjin and Kunming) and is the third new location for Alteon in 2005, joining Buenos Aires and Casablanca. The Opening Ceremony The opening ceremony of the aviation training center will be on the 1st December, 2005. The event will be graced by the Minister for the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, Minister Yang Yuan Yuan and Singapore's Minister of Transport, Minister Yeo Cheow Tong as the Guests of Honour. Airlines, aviation engineering companies and other associated companies across the world are invited to attend the half day ceremony in Tianjin. Facts on CAUC The Civil Aviation University of China at Tianjin was established in 1951.
